5 Backyard Must-Haves for Fall

Scott Marks

September marks the start of fall and the time to refresh your home’s landscape both inside and out with cozy fall décor. There are more than a few ways to embrace autumn in your backyard. Southeast Turf / SYNLawn Carolina has come up with just a few of our favorite ideas for fall to keep your yard festive for the season.

1. Fire Pit
Chilly nights are the perfect time to cozy up by the fire and spend time with loved ones. Install a stone fire pit and enjoy a roaring fire in the comfort of your own backyard. Create built-in seating so everyone can enjoy the fire and roast marshmallows or cook popcorn outdoors in a tin kettle. Remember to engage in smart fire safety practices. Choose products like SYNLawn artificial grass, which offers both North and South Carolina residents the protection of lush, green grass that doesn’t burn. It’s the only artificial grass in the industry with a Class A fire safety rating.

2. Cozy Seating
Don’t be afraid to go big when it comes to cozying up this fall. Line your porch with an overstuffed wicker loveseat and rocking chairs. Bring oversized throws outdoors so you can sip cider in the crisp air without getting chilly.

3. Lanterns
There are many options for backyard lighting, including string lights, path lights and custom deck lighting. Rustic lanterns with tea lights inside really set the scene for a cozy fall night. Use them on your backyard patio table or line the front porch with lanterns to welcome guests into your home for the holidays. Opt for battery-operated tea lights if you have small children or plan to leave the lanterns unattended for long periods of time.

4. Fall Themes
Create a picturesque fall scene in your backyard with hay bales, pumpkins, sheaves of wheat, and seasonal squash or gourds. You can even create a fall cornucopia centerpiece in a woven basket. These ideas are a great way to help get in the mood to celebrate fall holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving.

5. Autumn Wreath
Use orange raffia or burlap on a pre-made wreath base from your local craft store to create a welcoming fall wreath. Some homeowners choose to clip branches from the yard for a more authentic feel that represents their property. Even some Indian corn hung by string on the front door can be a pretty decoration for fall. Embellish with pretty satin bows, banners or twigs to create a rustic look perfect for the season.

The goal with outdoor autumn décor is to make it appropriate for the entire season. Well thought-out designs can be appropriate for September, October and even November! The Marks Family are true professionals. Answer calls/texts immediately. They treated my home like it was there own. They also hold their employees to the same standard. Clean and efficient, when they left it was like (other than the job) they were never there.

We can’t say enough about the great service and products from Southeast Turf! From the first meeting to the installation, they were great to deal with. Not to mention how awesome my yard looks. I think several of my neighbors are going to have it done as well because they too were impressed! Thank you!!

I had a small fenced in area off our patio that our dogs used. Southeast Turf installed artificial grass and it looks great. The team showed up on time and did a great job. They are booked out for a few months because they are in high demand. We love our new dog area. No more dirty dog feet, no more digging and no more smell!!

Turf installation at our beach home. Two large dogs with a small side yard creates challenges for potty time and maintaining your yard. They were able to solve this concern with turf installation that provides a safe area for our furbabies and a beautiful physical appearance as well. The installation was professionally handled and we are loving our new area!
